Jeff Foxworthy's Take on Teachers

You know you are a teacher if…

1. You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line.

2. You get a secret thrill out of laminating something.

3. You walk into a store and hear the words "It's Ms/Mr. _________" and know you have been spotted.

4. You have 25 people that accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another.

5. You can eat a multi-course meal in under twenty-five minutes.

6. You've trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day: lunch and prep period .

7. You start saving other people's trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom.

8. You laugh hysterically when someone refers to the Teacher’s Workroom as a “lounge.”

9. You want to slap the next person who says "Must be nice to work 7to 3 and have summers off." (without pay!)

10. You believe chocolate is a food group.

11. You can tell if it's a full moon without ever looking outside.

12. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says "Boy, the kids sure are mellow today."

13. You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public.

14. You believe in aerial spraying of Ritalin.

15. You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.

16. You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children.

17. You can't pass the school supply aisle without getting at least five items!

18. You ask your friend if the left hand turn he just made was a "good choice or a bad choice."

19. You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils

20. You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer and finally,

21. You understand instantaneously why a child behaves a certain way after meeting his or her parents.

This is so great…and so true! I just had to pass it along to all the teachers out there. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays!!

Ben and I had a fabulous time listening to holiday music as we decorated the tree. You can't really see the tree that well, but the main color scheme is blue, green, and silver. We had to rearrange the furniture several times before we settled on this final arrangement. I'm not in love with it, but my back hurts from moving furniture so--because of that--it is perfect!

I Am Grateful For

  • Life, both my own and the life yet to be
  • Trying, failing, and trying some more
  • Lovedeep, rooted love
  • Hope that allows me to face each new day with a smile on my face and hope in my heart
  • Mine and my husband’s random sense of humorit helps us to keep reaching for our goal
  • Passion
  • SmartBoardsso I don’t have to smell the nauseating odor of dry erase markers
  • Being ok with the fact that my favorite blue shirt now has a black marker line down the side
  • Being able to blame the marker line on kidswhen really it was due to my own absentmindedness!
  • The ability to think as an individualquestioning mandates that just don’t “feel right”
  • The ability to “question authority” (from the comfort of my living room)
  • Amazing compliments from the “higher-ups” that validate my decisions
  • Great neighborson both sides
  • Oyster roasts around a campfire even though I don’t like oysters
  • The warming, radiating heat of a fire on a chilly autumn night
  • No longer being the only person shivering when it is 65 degrees outside
  • God's plan--while I may not always understand it, I love the life with which God has blessed me

It's A Wonderful Life

Top 5 Reasons for the NEW blog...

5. I needed a change of scenery.

4. Technical difficulties.

3. Perhaps the new look will inspire me to actually post blogs.

2. New town, new job, new blog.

1. I forgot the password for the other blog...

I have decided to take this blog in a semi-different direction than our other blog. Upcoming blog topics:

*From the brilliant minds of seven-year-olds...
--My inspiration: spending 40 hours each week with 19 second graders.

*Autism and Vaccines--Is there a connection?
--My inspiration: As a young couple trying to bring a child into this world...it is worth at least considering.

*In the spirit of Thanksgiving--I Am Thankful For...
--My inspiration: The wonderful life with which God has blessed me.
